TCR Eastern Europe heads to the famous Salzburgring for the first time in its history. This circuit will be challenging for most of the participants, especially for the two teammates from Hyundai Janík Motorsport – Maťo Homola and Adam Kout – as they battle for the drivers‘ championship.
Homola enters the final round of this season with the upper hand over Kout. The reigning champion holds a 34-point advantage over Kout, a fairly comfortable lead, with 55 points still available over the weekend. Specifically, 25 points are awarded for each race win, 3 points for pole position, and 1 point for the fastest lap in the race.
If Kout wins qualifying, sets the fastest lap in the first race, and also wins it, even second place won’t be enough for Homola to secure the title in the first race. However, without the bonus points, if Kout wins and Homola finishes second, the Slovakian driver will clinch his second TCR Eastern Europe title after in the opening race in Austria.
Although the championship fight will be the most closely followed, there is still plenty to compete for in other positions. Attila Bucsi, in third place, won’t be starting at Salzburgring, but his position is secure. Currently fifth, Petr Čížek from Expres Auto Racing has his sights set on fourth place, where Martin Kadlečík currently sits. However, teammates from Mertel Motorsport are close behind Čížek, with René Kircher and Davit Kajaia eager to move up in the standings.
Žarko Knego from Autoklub Dubrovnik, Jiří Zbožínek from Hyundai Janík Motorsport, Giacomo Ghermandi from MM Motorsport, and Ivars Vallers from LV Racing are also very close in the points standings, and all will be determined to end their season on a high note.
Jorden Dolischka also has high hopes for Salzburgring, as it’s her home event, and her teammates Kircher and Kajaia will be supporting her as much as possible. Knego’s teammate Fraňo Dubreta will also be competing.
