Jáchym Galáš enjoyed a successful Round 2 of the eSports WTCR series at Slovakia Ring as he finished on the podium twice. He was racing in Split 2 where he crossed the line in 3rd place in both races.
Monday saw Round 2 of the eSports WTCR championship, which is a build-up ahead of the upcoming WTCR series season. Two weeks after the opening round at Hungaroring, drivers raced at Slovakia Ring and once again, there were also our representatives – Jáchym Galáš (Audi RS3 LMS, last year’s 2nd best driver, and Michal Makeš, who is preparing for his debut season with Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra. While Makeš qualified to Split 3, Galáš made it to Split 2.
But even against the faster competition, the GT2 Motorsport driver was not behind. After taking 3rd place in the first race at Hungaroring, he managed to take another podium and then again in Race 2. In both cases, he started from 8th position on the grid. First, after qualifying in 8th, and then following his podium finish and a reverse grid rule for TOP 10, he had to start in the 8th place again.
Michal Makeš also put together an impressive performance. While he qualified in only 12th place, he managed to make up 5 positions during the race to finish 7th in the end. That put Makeš on 4th place on the grid for Race 2. He utilised that position with a good start and even briefly touched 2nd place, but then in Lap 5, he began to drop off, before making a mistake and retiring from the race.
Round 3 of the eSports WTCR season is planned for May 4 at Ning-po in China. A qualifying round takes place from April 14 to 28.
