Shortly before the start of the new season, Michal Makeš provided an interview for us. What does the Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra driver expect for this year? He revealed that and much more.
Michal, it will be your second season in TCR Eastern Europe this year. Last season, you took one podium result and you finished fourth in the overall standings. What will be your ambitions for 2021 season? Do you believe you can achieve the first victory or even fight for the championship title?
I´m definitely want to fight for the podium results regularly. It would be great to fight for the championship title. Everything will be clearer after Hungaroring round.
Who will be the biggest threats in the fight for the championship title according to you? What about 2019 champion and last year vice-champion Milovan Vesnić or the returnee and TCR Eastern Europe race winner Tomáš Pekař? Do you think it will be these two drivers who will be the biggest threats in the fight for the title? Or do you see anyone else who has the potential for the championship fight?
There are many new names and I´m a curious how they will perform. But of course, Milovan Vesnić and Tomáš Pekař will definitely amongst the biggest contenders for the title. As I said, everything will be clearer after Hungaroring round.
We will have several changes in the regulations for this season. One of them is the reversed grid for second races of the season. The best six to ten drivers (the draw will decide it) from Race 1 will rotate on the grid for Race 2. What do you think about this change?
According to me, the second race will be more interesting than the first race thanks to this change. I suppose we will see also more contacts in Race 2. It will definitely be the big challenge for everyone and I´m looking forward to it.
What do you think about TCR Eastern Europe?
TCR Eastern Europe is a great championship and they have a better name amongst the other TCR championships every year. The number of drivers is increasing every year and the championship has a large grid despite coronavirus pandemic.
Why shoud the fans watch the 2021 TCR Eastern Europe season according to you?
There are a many drivers with potential for fight for the podium. The reversed grid for Race 2 will definitely be very interesting. I expect a very competitive season.
