Cold and wet conditions welcomed the drivers of TCR Eastern Europe into the first qualification of the 2022 season. The fight for the best starting position in today’s race was won by Bartosz Groszek, in front of teammates Jáchym Galáš and Maťo Homola.
Bartosz Groszek from the ADITIS Racing team has been driving his older Audi RS3 LMS TCR superbly and has set the fastest time at 2:14.082. Jáchym Galáš took second place, coming in at just 0,111 seconds slower, and his teammate from Hyundai / Janík Motorsport, Maťo Homola, lost by another three-tenths of a second. Both of them are racing with new Hyundai Elantra N TCR cars, although their main goal isn’t scoring points or winning. They are at Hungaroring to test out and gain experience with their new cars.
The fourth fastest time belongs to Levente Losonczy with an Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR, and fifth was former TCR Eastern Europe champion Milovan Vesnić with an Audi. Carol Wittke, winner of the last event of the previous season, will start from sixth place, and seventh was taken by Sebastian Steibel, both of them using Cupra cars.
Another two Hyundais – older type i30Ns – finished in eighth and ninth positions, thanks to Petr Semerád and Václav Janík. In tenth was Milenko Vuković with a Renault Mégane RS TCR.
Starting outside of the Top 10 are drivers Sanel Cehic, Tomasz Rzepecki, Petr Čížek, Radim Adámek, Žarko Knego and Franjo Kovač.
