Hungarian driver Levente Losonczy entered the 2022 season with Alfa Romeo Giulietta, however after promising results at Hungaroring (5th) and at Red Bull Ring (6th), he disappeared from the TCR Eastern Europe. But not for long. He was back at Slovakiaring with a new car Hyundai Elantra n TCR.
Losonczy drove superbly in the colours of Hyundai Motorsport. He had the opportunity to test the car before with Aggressive Team Italia and after that, they decided to go for it. First baptism with the Elantra was qualifying at Slovakiaring and Losonczy set the third fastest time, even after skipping two free practices. “The result is very promising. We have a good setup and the right call to change tyres before the end of the qualifying,” said Losonczy then.
He fought for the podium finish right after the first race start, although he wasn´t able to kept the pace with eventual race winner Maťo Homola and championship contenders. Fifth fastest race lap and sixth place in the finish was a bit disappointing for Losonczy after promising qualifying. On the other hand, he hadn´t as much experience with the car as opponents and finished sixth also in the second race.
More time in the TCR Eastern Europe would make him serious TOP3 contender for sure, but he didn´t participate in the last round of the championship. Levente Losonczy finished 11th in the driver´s standings.
