Italian driver Giacomo Ghermandi had different expectations for the opening round of TCR Eastern Europe in Oschersleben. But he put the weekend behind him and is ready for new action at Hungaroring.
“I made my TCR debut at Hungaroring exactly two years ago. It’s a track I like, it resembles Imola with its ups and downs, so I’ll feel a bit at home,” says Ghermandi, who will race with an Audi RS3 LMS TCR 2021 from Scuderia Ghermandi by LEMA Racing team.
Ghermandi debuted in TCR Eastern Europe in 2021 and is happy to be back again. “It was nice to breathe the atmosphere of the ESET Cup and TCR Eastern Europe paddock again. I saw many old friends and had the pleasure of meeting many new faces. The level is really very high, it has grown significantly since last year, and the first six or seven riders are very strong,” says Ghermandi about the weekend at Oschersleben, where he finished 13th and 11th.
“We finished race 1 in 10th position, and with the grid inversion, we were on pole for race 2. But the cold shower of the track limits penalty arrived and I dropped to 13th place. We didn’t see the black and white flags during the race. Unfortunately, it went like this; it was a weekend to put in the archive of experiences,” says Ghermandi, who is already looking forward to the Hungary round, saying “I can’t wait to compete again with the tough guys I met in Germany. We will arrive with a knife between our teeth, and the goal is to score points in both races!”
