Team Hyundai Janík Motorsport has clinched the Team championship title in the penultimate race of the TCR Eastern Europe season.
The Czech team scored 23 points in the opening race of this season’s final weekend at Most, which was enough to clinch the title with an overall total of 257 points. Hyundai Janík Motorsport is also the most successful team in term of wins. The team’s full-season driver Petr Semerád scored one victory at Poznań, and another three were added by Jáchym Galáš and Maťo Homola during their one-off starts. Galáš was one of the winners at Hungaroring and Homola dominated his home races at Slovakia Ring.
Semerád had been starting with a Hyundai i30 N TCR all season, except at Slovakia Ring, where he sat behind the wheel of a Hyundai Elantra N TCR. This new model also brought in success in Hungary and Slovakia. Semerád’s teammate in TCR Eastern Europe is team owner Václav Janík, whose results during the season played a significant part in securing the Team title, mainly three of his placements at Red Bull Ring and Poznań.
The victors of the Team championship have already been decided then, but the fight for the Drivers’ championship is still open. The results of the battle between Petr Semerád and Bartosz Groszek from the ADITIS Racing team will be sealed today. The final race of the season starts at 13:40.
