The fifth best driver of 2020 season Szymon Jablonski doesn´t rule out the option he will race in selected rounds of 2021 TCR Eastern Europe season.
Szymon Jablonski was one of the best rookies in 2020 TCR Eastern Europe season. The Polish driver, who raced with Hyundai i30 N TCR car of BM Racing Team, finished in fifth place in the overall standings. He achieved the best results in Brno round. He was third in both races of the weekend at Masaryk Circuit.
The main goal of Jablonski for 2021 season si to try FIA WTCR, the top series of TCR category. But at the same time, he doesn´t rule out the possibility he will appear also in TCR Eastern Europe again.
„I´m not going to lie. The 2021 season is going to be difficult due to financial reasons. My main goal is to start in FIA WTCR, but it will be really tricky. We are still looking for sponsors. I will definitely drive in complete Polish Rallycross Championship in SC Cup. In terms of TCR Eastern Europe, we still haven´t decided, but I´m not excluding the possibility of racing in selected rounds,“ says Jablonski.
He remember last season in a very good way: „I learnt so many things and gained so much experience. As a young driver, I think that TCR Eastern Europe is a wonderful series for start a career in this sort of car. It was super tough and very competitive. The circuits were great and the drivers were even better. There were so many amazing aspects of the series. One thing is certain – I had a lot of fun,“ he added.
Except for the 5th place in overall standings, Jablonski finished third in junior standings. He was defeated only by the junior champion Jáchym Galáš and by the second best junior of 2020 season Michal Makeš. Galáš is another driver, who opened the way to the prestigious championship thanks to his results in TCR Eastern Europe. He will race in TCR Europe this year. Michal Makeš will continue in TCR Eastern Europe with Cupra Leon TCR car of Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra.
