Once again, we are going to see Žarko Knego on the grid this season. And as he reveals in our exclusive interview, his goals are big.
Žarko, last year you took part in the first three events of the season. What are your plans for this year?
I want to race again! I’ll be racing with Cupra car that I crashed in Grobnik last year and that took us so long to fix. But the car is almost ready now.
Are you going to race for Auto Klub Dubrovnik Racing or someone else?
I’ve been racing for Auto Klub Dubrovnik since the beginning of my career and I intend to continue to do so. At the moment, we own a Cupra car and we don’t plan any changes. And while its manufacturer has revealed a new generation for this car this year, I want to continue with the one we own. But maybe, we can switch to the new generation in the future.
What are your ambitions for 2020?
My goal last year was to get used to the car, learn the circuits and most of the time, I wasn’t racing on a level I was hoping for. But our space and our budget were fairly limited. This year, I want to improve my results and try to compete with the best ones. But of course, others are working hard now as well, and it’ll be a very interesting season. I’m expecting to finish on the podium in some races. At the end of the season, I hope to be in the TOP 5.
What kind of future do you think this championship has?
I think it’s a good championship and I think there will be more and more drivers coming in the future. All the races are not too far apart, and I think it’s one of the most accessible series, in terms of pricing, while offering a very good level of racing. The current crisis is surely going to hit the championship, but we all hope to start racing soon again.
