The second round of TCR Eastern Europe got underway with Friday’s free practice session, where Adam Kout from Hyundai Janík Motorsport narrowly beat Giacomo Ghermandi from MM Motorsport by just 0.054 seconds.
After the season opener at the Red Bull Ring, the championship has moved to Salzburgring, keeping the series in Austria for now before heading to other countries during the summer. The fast, sweeping Salzburgring is a real test of driver courage, and so far, Kout and Ghermandi have proven to be the quickest.
Behind them were the Aditis Racing duo of Bartosz Groszek and Martin Kadlečík, followed by Jiří Zbožínek from Hyundai Janík Motorsport, who set the fifth-fastest time despite completing fewer laps than his rivals.
Petr Čížek from Expres Auto Racing was sixth, with Ivars Vallers from LV Racing in seventh. Making his return to TCR Eastern Europe this weekend, Petr Semerád finished eighth without any prior practice at Salzburgring.
The race weekend continues on Saturday with qualifying at 10:00 and Race 1 at 13:00.
