Michal Makeš won Race 1 in Poznan in dominant fashion. The championship leader Tomáš Pekař had to settle with second place and Szymon Jablonski finished third.
Shortly before the first ever TCR Eastern Europe race in Poland started, the rain began to fall. But it stopped before drivers went to warm-up lap and race took place on dry track in the end.
It was good news for Michal Makeš. He won qualifying on Friday. But he was worried about the possibility of rain for Race 1. Finally, we raced on dry and Makeš dominated. He led from start to finish and achieved his second victory in TCR Eastern Europe.
The championship leader Tomáš Pekař started from 2nd place and achieved same result in Race 1. The TCR Eastern Europe returnee Szymon Jablonski repeated third place from qualifying. Jablonski tried to take the risk before he drove out of pitlane. He put on wet tires for his road to starting grid. But after that, the rain stopped and Jablonski decided to change wet tires for dry tires.
Another Polish driver Tomasz Rzepecki finished fourth. The fifth Petr Čížek, sixth Sebastian Steibel and seventh Lukasz Stolarczyk crossed the line behind Rzepecki. Bartosz Groszek, who makes his TCR Eastern Europe debut this weekend with ESET Race Star support, took four points for 8th place in his first race. The ninth Giacomo Ghermandi and tenth Carol Wittke also scored points.
It was an unsuccessful start of the weekend for Milovan Vesnić. The first ever TCR Eastern Europe champion from 2019 season crossed the line only as 11th.
Except for Szymon Jablonski, we can see also returns of Jakub Wyszomirski and Sebastian Kolakowski from Honda Wyszomirski Racing this weekend. Wyszomirski finished 14th and Kolakowski was 15th after he spun.
Race 2 will start at 12.30 on Sunday and the drivers will start in reversed order. The top six to ten drivers from Race 1 will be reversed.
