Michal Makeš dominated and achieved his first victory in TCR Eastern Europe in Race 1 at Slovakiaring. Sebastian Steibel, who races with the support of ESET Race Star project, finished second and Carol Wittke was third.
Milovan Vesnić was best in qualifying and took the pole position for Race 1. But he lost his lead immediately after start, because Tomáš Pekař passed him. But the championship leader was in the lead only shortly. He made a mistake in the opening lap and allowed Michal Makeš to take the lead. After that, the Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra driver was absolutely dominant and clinched his first race victory in TCR Eastern Europe at the finish.
While Makeš achieved his first victory, the ESET Race Star supported driver Sebastian Steibel and Carol Wittke took their first podium results. Steibel finished second and Wittke was third. Wittke secured the third podium result of Fullinrace Academy team in TCR Eastern Europe. Petr Čížek achieved the previous two TOP 3 results in 2019.
Tomasz Rzepecki finished 4th. He overtook Tomáš Pekař in the final laps. The championship leader didn´t have a perfect race and was 5th at the finish. After the race, it was revealed that Pekař had a problem with understeering.
The TCR Eastern Europe debutant and ESET Race Star supported driver Miro Horňák was fourth for a long time and was in the podium fight. In the end, the local driver took sixth place. Lukasz Stolarczyk finished 7th. Another debutant and ESET Race Star supported driver Dávid Němček also scored points for 8th place. Žarko Knego finished 9th and Radim Adámek closed the points positions.
The qualifying winner Milovan Vesnić had a bad luck. He was on 2nd place for a long time. Later, he dropped behind Sebastian Steibel and was third. But he had a technical problem and didn´t finish. Petr Čížek and Giacomo Ghermandi also didn´t see the checkered flag, probably also due to technical issues.
Race 2 will take place tomorrow at 11.45. It was drawn the TOP 9 from today´s race will start in reversed order. It means Žarko Knego will begin from pole position ahead of second Dávid Němček and third Lukasz Stolarczyk.
