Mertel Motorsport, the racing team based in Germany, announced its participation in the upcoming TCR Eastern Europe season, building on an impressive debut season 2023. The team, under the experienced guidance of Kurt Treml is set to make significant strides in the competitive touring car championship.
Last season, Mertel Motorsport made a formidable entry into TCR Eastern Europe with two Honda Civics, showcasing the talent of drivers René Kircher and Davit Kajaia. Young Kircher secured the vice-champion title overall and triumphed in the Junior Trophy, while Kajaia finished fourth in the standings and contributed significantly to the team’s runner-up position in the Team Championship.
This year, both Kircher and Kajaia are set to return, bringing their invaluable experience and determination back to the TCR Eastern Europe series. They will be joined by a new team mate, the talented female racer Jorden Dolischka, who will drive the third car, marking an expansion of the team’s lineup.
