This year, champion Michal Makeš isn’t returning to TCR Eastern Europe due to difficulties finding a new car for this season.
“I won’t be racing in TCR because everything that had been agreed upon and everything that we had counted on didn’t transpire a few weeks before the race at Hungaroring,” said Michal Makeš about the new TCR car, which he had planned to enter for this season.
Makeš tried to look around for some alternatives and find a new home in another touring car championship. “I will be racing in the BMW M2 Cup this season. After the bad luck with the TCR, in the end, I was lucky. I managed to arrange car testing at the last minute and the tests turned out very well,” explained Makeš.
It means that the 2022 season of TCR Eastern Europe will have only one former champion on the field – Milovan Vesnić.
