Vuković set the fastest time qualifying for the opening TCR Eastern Europe race at the Austrian circuit Red Bull Ring. He was the only driver to finish in under one minute and 38 seconds.
Besagroup Vuković Motorsport scored its first pole position of the year, which is a great achievement, especially after dealing with some serious gearbox issues on Friday. Mechanics had to work during the night to fix the problem and now the green Mégane works perfectly for Vuković again.
Petr Semerád, with a Hyundai i30N TCR, is going to start in today’s race from second place. Although he extended track limits and his fastest time was deleted, he still managed to hold on to second place for the Hyundai / Janík Motorsport team.
The second row on the grid belongs to Petr Čížek, with a Cupra León Competición, and Patrick Sing, with a Hyundai i30N TCR. Čížek was once again the fastest driver with a Cupra car, which, unlike at Hungaroring, worked great this time. Sing, from TCR Germany, showed promising speed, giving him the capability of achieving a podium finish.
The third row is occupied solely by Cupras. In fifth is Čížek’s teammate Carol Wittke from Fullinrace Academy, and in sixth is Žarko Knego from the Auto Klub Dubrovnik team. Václav Janík, in a Hyundai, shares the fourth row with former champion Milovan Vesnić, driving an Audi. Behind them are Bartosz Groszek, winner of the opening round at Hungaroring, and Sebastian Steibel.
Levente Losonczy, with the only Alfa Romeo in the field, is going to start from 11th position next to Sanel Cehic in an Audi. The last four positions belong to Radim Adámek (Audi), newcomer Vít Smejkal (Cupra), Tomasz Rzepecki (VW), and Franjo Kovač (Renault).
