Michal Makeš achieved his premiere victory in TCR Eastern Europe in Race 1 at Slovakiaring. He marked it as a biggest victory of his career.
The list of TCR Eastern Europe winners is one name longer today. Michal Makeš took his premiere victory in TCR Eastern Europe in Race 1 at Slovakiaring. He started from third place. But the Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra driver moved to second early and took the lead already in the opening lap after Tomáš Pekař made a mistake. After that, Makeš was absolutely dominant.
„My start was moderate. Rear of Milovan´s (Milovan Vesnić – editorial note) car slipped and I passed him. After that, I was behind Tomáš (Tomáš Pekař – editorial note). Rear of his car slipped in the middle of circuit at long right turn and I was in the lead. The drivers behind me were fighting and I was able to build a gap. I drove stable and without mistakes. It couldn´t turn out better. I´m happy that I achieved that at Slovakiaring, where I wasn´t successful in the past,“ says Makeš.
Makeš became the seventh race winner in TCR Eastern Europe history. He joined Dušan Borković (8 wins), Milovan Vesnić (4 wins), Tomáš Pekař (3 wins), Jáchym Galáš (2 wins), Dušan Kouřil jr. (2 wins) and Martin Ryba (1 win).
Race 2 will take place on Sunday at 11.45. Makeš will start from 9th position after it was drawn that TOP 9 from Race 1 will start in reversed order. Žarko Knego will start from pole position ahead of second Dávid Němček and third Lukasz Stolarczyk.
