In January, Tomáš Pekař did another test with Renault Megane TCR at the Most circuit.
One of the last year’s race winners in the TCR category was Tomáš Pekař. The Czech driver from Mělník took his first victory at the 2nd race at Red Bull Ring with Renault Megane of Besagroup Vukovic Motorsport team. However, that was his only race weekend of the season and he did not get a chance to fight for another trophy again.
But in the middle of January, he returned into Renault Megane at Autodrom Most circuit. And while the base model is the same, the car has been heavily upgraded since his winning race. And he had only praise to share.
“Already after the first few laps, it was clear that Vukovic Motorsport did a great job. The brand-new engine is much more powerful. The car has a bigger grip, thanks to the reworked front-axle. Also, the car is lighter and that together with a better balance makes it faster,” said Pekař after the test drive.
While these comments might suggest that his test drive was actually a preparation for the new season, the reality is a bit different. The Czech driver was not keen to confirm anything.
“At the moment, I don’t know if I’ll be able to race this car this year. But it’s possible that I might do a few races,” he said.
Anyway, Tomáš Pekař can consider his last year as a successful one. He took his 2nd championship title in Renault Clio Cup Central Europe series and he was doing well in Endurance events as well. That includes a GT4 category win in the 24-hour race in Dubai.
