Tomáš Pekař secured pole position for Race 1 of the Hungaroring round thanks to the fastest time in the qualifying on his return to TCR Eastern Europe. The 2019 champion Milovan Vesnić finished second in qualifying and Michal Makeš was third.
The first qualifying after his return to TCR Eastern Europe couldn´t turn out better for Tomáš Pekař. The Czech driver set time 1:54,066 with Cupra Leon TCR car of his own team Carpek Service and will start from pole position in Race 1 on Saturday.
Milovan Vesnić will start alongside Pekař in Race 1. The Serbian driver, who became the champion in 2019 and the vice-champion last year, was slower only by 14 thousandths than Pekař and finished second in his new Audi RS 3 LMS TCR car. It´s a promise of a great battle for tomorrow races and also for this season. Michal Makeš from Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra team was third in qualifying and won amongst junior drivers.
Lukasz Stolarczyk finished fourth. Giacomo Ghermandi enojyed a great qualifying debut in TCR Eastern Europe and took fifth place. Petr Čížek was sixth. Another rookie Sebastian Steibel, who races with support of ESET Race Star project, set the 7th fastest time. Petr Fulín, another ESET Race Star supported driver, finished 8th despite the spin at the beginning of the session. Another rookie and junior Tomasz Rzepecki was 9th and TOP 10 was completed by Carol Wittke.
Race 1 will start at 10.45. From 14.05, we will see Race 2, where the drivers will start from the reversed grid. Six to ten drivers (the draw will decide it) will rotate. So we can expect a great spectacle.
