Returnee Petr Fulín won the qualifying session at Autodrom Most for the first race of the penultimate round of the TCR Eastern Europe. Fulín, racing with Aditis Racing’s Audi RS3 LMS TCR, beat Davit Kajaia with Honda by 0.095 seconds.
It was a thrilling qualifying session as Fulín and Kajaia exchanged positions for the top spot, but ultimately, it was the Czech driver who set the fastest lap of them all. Kajaia from Mertel Motorsport couldn’t improve his time in the last qualifying lap and had to settle for second place.
The atmosphere at Expres Auto Racing is cheerful as Petr Čížek set the third fastest lap. The Czech driver is familiar with the circuit and used all his experience to achieve his best qualifying result this season. René Kircher, Kajaia’s teammate, will start alongside him.
Championship leader Maťo Homola from Hyundai Janík Motorsport team secured the fifth fastest time, and Giacomo Ghermandi with Audi will start next to him. These two drivers had an exciting battle in the previous race at Slovakia Ring, so it will be interesting to see if they continue their rivalry.
Petr Fulín Jr. with Cupra secured the seventh spot, while Homola’s teammate Adam Kout will have to start from eighth. Kout didn’t complete his final qualifying lap due to an unfortunate manoeuvre by pole-position holder Fulín, who only noticed Kout at the last moment and disrupted his lap.
Carlo Czepiel, the third member of Hyundai Janík Motorsport, will start from ninth, and Ivars Vallers, who has been progressively improving, made it into the top ten once again.
The race is scheduled to start at 14:35.
