Petr Semerád, former TCR Eastern Europe driver and runner-up in the 2022 season, is making his return to touring car racing at the second round of the season at Salzburgring. He’ll be behind the wheel of a Cupra Leon Competición TCR, competing with the Expres Auto Racing team.
The TCR Eastern Europe series resumes this weekend at the high-speed Salzburgring circuit, a track where Semerád has never raced before.
“I want to enjoy the weekend, relive some memories from TCR where I raced in 2022 and fought for the title with Bartosz Groszek,” says Semerád, who is realistic about his goals and expectations at Salzburgring.
“I haven’t done any testing, and I’ll be getting into the car for the first time this weekend, so I don’t expect to be battling with the likes of Adam Kout or Bartosz Groszek. But I’m definitely looking forward to discovering a new circuit I’ve never raced on.”
To prepare for his Salzburgring debut, Semerád will train on a simulator. His teammate, Petr Čížek, already has experience at the Austrian track, where he finished fourth and fifth in the two races last year.
The race weekend kicks off with free practice on Friday. Qualifying is scheduled for Saturday at 10:00, followed by Race 1 at 13:00. Race 2 gets underway on Sunday at 11:45.
