On the new Hungarian track of Balaton Park, the Bolognese driver Giacomo Ghermandi impressed on his debut with the Honda Civic Type R TCR of the MM Motorsport team, taking fourth and sixth place in the opening round of the season.
Ghermandi’s adventure with MM Motorsport in the TCR Eastern Europe began with a convincing performance. The final balance speaks of a fourth place obtained in race 1 and a sixth (thanks to a post-race penalty for track limits) in the second heat, but it could have been much more flattering considering that in both races Ghermandi occupied third position for a long time.
The importance of the result obtained takes on even greater significance considering that the spirited ‚Jack‘ arrived on the Hungarian track without having been able to carry out tests with the new car, thus giving a glimpse of the potential that will be able to be exploited in the championship.
“The outcome of this first weekend is certainly positive and gives us great confidence in view of the rest of the season. In both races we found ourselves occupying third position for a long time, only to then have to deal with excessive tire degradation towards the end which forced us to see our dream of the podium fade away. So there remains some frustration with this epilogue, even if the potential is certainly very high and we have understood the path on which to work for the future,” says Ghermandi.
The rapport with the team, led by Emanuele Alborghetti and Giovanna Aiello, immediately proved to be excellent, just as Ghermandi’s ability to adapt to the Japanese company’s car was rapid, despite the short time available.
