Petr Semerád has won his first pole position in the TCR Eastern Europe championship in Tor Poznań. He beat Petr Čížek and teammate Václav Janík.
The Hyundai team is fast again despite the weight compensation added after the previous event at Red Bull Ring. Semerád is carrying an extra 30 kilograms in his Hyundai, and Václav Janík has 10 kilograms. But that hasn’t stopped them from achieving more great results for the Hyundai / Janík Motorsport team.
Semerád set the fastest lap with 1:36.376, exactly 0.339 seconds faster than Petr Čížek, driving a Cupra from the Fullinrace Academy team. Čížek was once again keeping pace for the top-most positions. He scored his first podium finish during the weekend at Red Bull Ring. Janík is also happy with his qualifying results – the best he’s had so far.
Championship leader Bartosz Groszek set the fourth fastest time. The local driver is starting with an Audi in front of his home crowd and is looking forward to competing in Poznań again after his win there last year. Sebastian Steibel, with another Cupra, was fifth and Sanel Cehic came in sixth.
Championship contender Milenko Vuković, driving a Renault, was only the seventh fastest, but that was to be expected, as he is carrying an extra 40 kilograms of compensatory weight. Žarko Knego will be starting from eighth position, in ninth is the local Tomasz Rzepecki, and in tenth is newcomer Milan Vuković, son and now teammate of Milenko Vuković.
