The penultimate round of the TCR Eastern Europe series at Automotodrom Brno will feature a special addition to the starting grid. The regular season drivers will be joined by drivers from the TCR Europe series, for whom it will also be the penultimate event of 2024.
TCR Europe and TCR Eastern Europe have previously had a few joint events, such as in 2019 at the Hungaroring, where all cars from both championships started together in two races, and at the Slovakia Ring in 2021, where they shared a race weekend but had separate races.
In Brno 2024, the cars will once again be racing together, creating a field of more than 20 cars on the hilly Czech circuit. It will be interesting to see how the drivers from each series compare to one another. For example, the current TCR Eastern Europe leader, Maťo Homola, used to race in TCR Europe and has extensive experience in touring cars.
On the other hand, Aurélien Comte and Franco Girolami are leading the TCR Europe series, both with 259 points ant there will be strong competition between them at Brno, where they have never raced before, making it their first time on that track.
As most of the TCR Eastern Europe field knows the Brno circuit very well, we can expect a real mix of competitors from both series. So the question remains: who will conquer Brno’s track? Will it be someone from TCR Europe or TCR Eastern Europe? We’ll find out 7th and 8th September.
