The junior drivers weren´t a makeweight during the opening round of 2021 TCR Eastern Europe season at Hungaroring. Michal Makeš achieved two podium results and Tomasz Rzepecki scored points in both races of the weekend.
The 2021 TCR Eastern Europe season started at Hungaroring last weekend. And among others, it was a successful weekend also for junior drivers in Hungary.
The best junior on the grid was Michal Makeš. The Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra driver shone already in qualifying, where he set the third fastest time and scored one extra point to the championship. But he did well also in both races of the weekend. In Race 1, he finished second. In Race 2, his Cupra Leon TCR crossed the line on 3rd position. It was a great fighter drive by Makeš in Race 2, because he started from 8th place. He showed he will be not only one of the biggest favourites for the junior title, but also for the overall championship title this year.
Tomasz Rzepecki, who is experiencing his rookie TCR Eastern Europe season, could be happy after Hungaroring as well. In Race 1, he finished with Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR car of Basenhurt on 6th place. He scored points also in Race 2. He took 8th place there.
We will see the junior drivers in the action again at Slovakiaring from 7th to 9th of May. On this date, the second round of 2021 TCR Eastern Europe season will take place there. After Hungaroring, Makeš is second and Rzepecki is seventh.
