It´s pretty common to have the father and the son in the automobile racing, at least in sports cars and touring cars series, where the clash of the generation is more often. Similar thing happened in the TCR Eastern Europe this season. A returnee Milenko Vuković begun the season with Renault Mégane. He and his team Besagroup Vuković Motorsport raced on the top and after the two rounds Vuković´s son Milan sat behind the wheel of the second Mégane. Youngster’s debut in the much powerful car then Renault Twingo, which he used to race in previous event, went really well.
The father and son duo raced together (and against each other) at Poznań. Milenko Vuković was second in the driver´s championship and very keen to help his son to get the car known. “It’s a very emotional situation for me,” said Milenko during our interview at Poznań. “Milan came here without any preparation. It’s his first experience with a real touring car and it’s just incredible how fast he adapted himself to these new conditions,” continued Milenko.
Milan finished the first race in seventh, his father was fourth, so points for both of them. Unfortunately, the second race didn’t end well for the Besagroup Vuković Motorsport team. Both cars were unable to finish the race due to technical issues, but Milenko was still classified as ninth.
Besagroup Vuković Motorsport didn´t participated in the rest of the season, but it´s expected to continue in the following year. So can we look forward to another “family team-mates”? Probably, we will see.
