The Swiss-based team Vuković Motorsport announced TCR Eastern Europe entry. The team will run a pair of Renault Mégane RS cars, one for the team owner Milenko Vuković, the name of the second driver will be announced in due course.
The team develops Mégane for TCR series around the world. First outing in TCR Eastern Europe happened in 2019 and Vuković Motorsport has won race at Red Bull Ring thanks to the Czech driver Tomáš Pekař. The team also participated in WTCR 2020 season and has strong connection with Australian TCR series.
“After winning our first and only race in 2019 with Tomáš Pekař, we have always kept a close relationship with Josef Krenek and have planned to do a full season. Now with the pandemic times coming close to an end, it´s the perfect time for us to enter the championship. Also the ESET Program is the perfect platform to support young talents, which we are also planning this year,” said Milenko Vuković
The team took sabbatical year in 2021 WTCR season to further development of the car and Milenko Vuković is now confident, that Mégane is winning car in the TCR competition. “The car proved to be quite competitive in FIA WTCR in 2020, but we have spent lot of time to improve our qualifying performance, in particular the chassis balance, weight optimization, and the cooling system,” explained Vuković and continued about team involvement in other TCR series: “Currently we have a successful customer team in TCR Australia with three of our cars. And now we also want to present ourself in TCR Eastern Europe. To show that our car is a very good choice and we want to attract potential customer.”
Renault is another car manufacturer brand in TCR Eastern Europe, which means higher competition in the championship and this is great news for the promoter of the series, Josef Křenek: “Vuković Motorsport team participation in TCR Eastern Europe is very important to us and I am very happy about that. It means not only another brand in the field, but also an important and experienced team, which will certainly be one of the field favourites.”
Josef Křenek knows Milenko Vuković more than decade and he´s more than happy to work with him again: “I am a big fan and admirer of the Milenko Vuković team, with whom I got to know in 2011 in the Clio Cup Bohemia. His team has undergone tremendous development, their cars are manufactured with attention to detail and with great personal commitment. It is admirable that as a private team, they managed to manufacture, homologate and bring the TCR car to victory. It was a great honor for us that they achieved their first victory with the Renault Mégane RS in TCR Eastern Europe,” said Křenek.
