ESET Cup and TCR Eastern Europe series has a new partner. It´s a Polish circuit Autodrom Słomczyn, located just 50 kilometres south from Warsaw downtown. Small circuit went through a rebuild and future plans are to expand into a longer track.
“The track was built in the 1990s, but only for Rally Cross. Due to the very bad condition, the track wasn´t ready even in 2010 for Rally Cross competitions. Autodrom was rebuild between 2012–2015 according to my idea and now it is designed for many disciplines, “says Sebastian Kolakowski, who is a president of the Management board of Automobilklub Rzemieślnik Club and the club is also owner of Autodrom Słomczyn. Kolakowski restructured the club financially and sportingly and stands behind the rise of the Autodrom Słomczyn.
Kolakowski is also a race drivers, competing for example in Clio Cup and recently in TCR Eastern Europe. As he knows Mr. Josef Křenek, promoter of ESET Cup and TCR Eastern Europe, word was given and cooperation was born.
„Racing circuits are very important for our sport and any activity in this direction and in our region is very beneficial and worthy of support. Poland is a big country and Polish race drivers are among the most successful in our championships. Autodrom Słomczyn certainly deserves new opportunities. I´m very happy to support this project and look forward to cooperation in the future,“ says Josef Křenek.
The Autodrom Słomczyn has currently several configurations: karting, pit-bike, super-moto, rally cross, autocross or drift. Track length is from 1050 to 1280 metres long. But the future holds the potential for the growth.
“I have plans to expansion into a 3 km circuit and I hope that someday, I will be able to invite my friends from ESET to the competition in Słomczyn,” explains Kolakowski.
Current events at Autodrom Słomczyn are karting competitions ROK Cup Poland, Rotax Max Challenge and CIK Polish Karting Championship. Also Rally Cross Polish Championship and CEZ and drift competitions, motorcycles, pit-bike competitions, super moto and other sports and commercial events.
