Bartosz Groszek finished third in the first ever TCR Virtual Global Finale, which took place at the beginning of March at RacingFuel Academy in Zurich.
More than 9000 registered users and over 1000 races are just a couple of numbers from the TCR Virtual Cup 21. Out of the huge number of drivers from all over the world, fifteen moved up to the grand finale in Zurich. One of them was Bartosz Groszek, well-known driver from TCR Eastern Europe.
TCR Virtual Global Finale hosted three races at Barcelona, Watkins Glen, and Imola. Groszek won the opening race at Barcelona and then finished 4th in the remaining races. Those results secured him third place overall in the finale.
“I’m very happy with the result. It was the TCR Virtual World Championship after all. The competition was very tough. Eight drivers within 0.2 seconds [of each other] speaks for itself. I started the competition excellently because of a victory. In the remaining races, I managed to get 4th place twice, which gave me 3rd place in the world final. In all the races, there was not even a moment to rest,” said a happy Groszek, who trained three to four hours a day for two weeks before the final. He also worked on devising the best car setup with his teammate Dominik Plona and the whole Carbon Simsport team.
“I didn’t have very high expectations before the final. I knew that there would be many fast drivers and that any additional stress would not help at all. I approached the competition with complete peace of mind, just like I did for my starts last season in TCR Eastern Europe and, as you can see, it paid off. Overall, I was less nervous there compared to real races and I think that helped me achieve a podium,” explained Groszek.
The winner of the TCR Virtual Global Finale was Juan Manuel Gomez from Argentina. Lukáš Matěja from the Czech Republic finished second and Groszek completed the podium.
