Attila Bucsi – Hyundai i30 N TCR (M1RA Motorsport) – 1st place
To be honest, it’s hard to find any words after a qualifying session like this. I set the fastest time immediately in my opening lap, which is quite rare, but it was enough to secure the first place. We didn’t know what to expect before the weekend because my car has an additional kilos of competition weight, so I’m very happy with the results. I made my debut here in Brno with a touring car in the Swift Cup when I was 12 years old, and this is my fourth time here.
Maťo Homola – Hyundai Elantra N TCR (Hyundai Janík Motorsport) – 2nd place
I’m satisfied with the results. We significantly improved our pace compared to the practice sessions by making several changes to the car’s setup. The circuit doesn’t offer much grip, and we struggled with that a lot. Nonetheless, we managed to enhance the car, and it looks promising. I set my best time early on, and since I had a gap to the other drivers, we decided to stay in the pits and save one set of tires for the race. The opening laps of the race will be crucial because the tires here only last for a few laps before they degrade, so this was our strategy. We knew that Attila would be fast, not only because he is a great driver but also because he is with an experienced team, and his car is still very competitive. So, congratulations to him.
Bartosz Groszek – Audi RS3 LMS TCR 2021 (Aditis Racing) – 3rd place
The result is okay, but I’m not satisfied with my second run. In my first lap, I hit the tire pillar in the last corner, which caused my steering to be bent for the rest of the session. Additionally, in my fastest lap, I lost control of the rear in the stadium section, costing me a couple of tenths. I’m confident that the second position in qualifying was possible, but I’m unsure about capturing the pole position. However, we are more focused on our race pace rather than qualifying pace, so we can be more competitive in the race, and that’s our chance.
