Friday marked the start of the fourth round of the TCR Eastern Europe Championship at the Slovakia Ring. In the late-afternoon qualifying session, Adam Kout took pole position in his Hyundai Elantra, finishing 1.2 seconds ahead of Žarko Knego, also driving a Hyundai Elantra.
Kout set the fastest lap right at the beginning of the session and then waited in the pit lane, ready to improve his time if necessary. Although he returned to the track for another flying lap, it wasn’t needed, as no one came close to challenging him.
Žarko Knego moved into second place in the closing stages, scoring his best qualifying result of the season. Starting from the second row in tomorrow’s race will be Audi teammates Martin Kadlečík and Bartosz Groszek.
Just 0.008 seconds behind Groszek was Petr Čížek in a Cupra, who will share the third row with Kout’s teammate Jiří Zbožínek. The fourth row will feature Ivars Vallers in an Audi and Čížek’s teammate Vít Smejkal.
Luka Fabijančič (Hyundai i30) and Peter Szilágyi (Cupra) will line up on the fifth row, followed by Nemanja Milovanović (Hyundai) and Bojan Miljković (Honda).
Race 1 gets underway on Saturday at 13:20.
