The 2025 season of the TCR Eastern Europe series heads to Hungary for its final round this weekend, where the battle for the title will come to a climax. And it’s not only between Adam Kout and Martin Kadlečík, the teams’ championship is also on the line.
Adam Kout from Hyundai Janík Motorsport arrives at Balaton Park with just an eight-point lead over Kadlečík from Aditis Racing. Kout in Hyundai Elantra seized the top spot in the drivers’ standings back in May, right from the very first race of the season, and has held it ever since. At times, Kadlečík in Audi RS3 closed the gap, at other times, Kout managed to extend his advantage. The points swing has gone back and forth all season long.
At the Slovakia Ring, Kout won both races to build a comfortable mairgin. But at the previous race weekend, Kadlečík struck back, claiming a double victory and cutting the gap back down to just eight points. Now, both drivers are preparing for the decisive showdown. For each of them, this is a chance to secure a first-ever TCR Eastern Europe championship title. They are proven race winners in the series, but neither has yet lifted championship crown.
Thanks to his success in Brno, Kadlečík will carry 40 kilograms of weight ballast at Balaton Park, while Kout will have 30 kilograms. That gives Kout a slight advantage, but it doesn’t rule Kadlečík out by any means. He won’t give up and nor should he, as this season has shown that nothing is certain until the drivers cross the finish line. Kout knows this all too well, having suffered misfortune himself, including a crash on the way to the grid at Brno that wasn’t his fault.
While Kout and Kadlečík fight for the drivers’ title, their teams are locked in a battle of their own. Aditis Racing leads the standings thanks to strong results from Kadlečík and his teammate Bartosz Groszek, who currently sits third in the drivers’ championship with his position more or less secured. Kout’s Hyundai Janík Motorsport teammate Jiří Zbožínek holds fourth place in the standings. Groszek and Zbožínek will both be crucial in deciding the team title, with Aditis Racing holding a 28-point advantage over Hyundai Janík Motorsport. With a maximum of 48 points still up for grabs, the chances of a dramatic finale remain high.
The championship fights will headline the weekend, but there is another battle worth watching for fifth place in the drivers’ standings. Žarko Knego from Auto Klub Dubrovnik and Petr Čížek from Expres Auto Racing are separated by just two points, setting up a fierce contest between Knego’s Hyundai Elantra and Čížek’s Cupra.
Knego will also be scoring points for the Croatian TCR championship, which once again joins the TCR Eastern Europe calendar this weekend. Just as at the Slovakia Ring, the grid will be expanded with Croatian and Serbian drivers in TCR cars.
Qualifying takes place on Saturday, September 27, at 10:50. Race 1 follows later the same day at 16:00, with the final race of the season set for Sunday at 12:25.
