Giacomo Ghermandi changes the car for last two rounds of the 2021 season. The Italian driver will race with Cupra Leon Competición TCR car at Slovakiaring and in Brno.

Giacomo Ghermandi experiences his first TCR Eastern Europe season this year. The Italian driver races for Lema Racing team. In first four rounds, we could see him behind the wheel of Cupra Leon TCR car. He scored 38 points so far and he is ninth in the championship standings before last two race weekends of the 2021 season.

And the last two rounds at Slovakiaring and at Masaryk Circuit in Brno will bring one important change for Ghermandi. He decided to change the car. Instead of Cupra Leon TCR, he will race with newer Cupra model – Leon Competición TCR.

„Big injury (broken Achilles Tendon – editorial note) is affecting my season. My left foot is still knocked out and I won´t be able to brake again with my left foot until 2022. I tried the new Cupra and immediately found myself at easy braking with my right foot. The car is more stable under braking and solves my problem. For this reason, we have decided to use this car for last races of the season,“ explains Ghermandi.

The 2021 rookie would like to achieve his first podium result with Cupra Leon Competición TCR car in the remainder of the season: „This year is a season of apprenticeship for me. I have to accumulate many kilometers and gain experience. My goal for Slovakiaring and for Brno is to go for podium. I´m working hard for this even though it´s hard to train when you struggle to walk. But I´m not a person who likes to find excuses. I will give 100% as always to reach the goal for me and for the whole Lema Racing team,“ he added.

Ghermandi will be the third driver from current TCR Eastern Europe grid who will deploy Cupra Leon Competición TCR car. Except for him, the Fullinrace Academy drivers Petr Čížek and Carol Wittke also race with this car.
