Slovak racer Milan Pokorný will compete in TCR Eastern Europe this year. He will race in selected events with a Hyundai i30N in the colours of the Autopola family team.

You mostly competed in hill climb races, so what made you want to participate in TCR Eastern Europe?
You’re right. I mostly started in hill climb races, but when the opportunity to drive on the circuits came up, I couldn’t resist.

You have a Hyundai dealership Autopola, does that mean you’ll be driving a Hyundai?
Exactly. It would be unprofessional of us to start with another brand. We’re going to race with a Hyundai i30N TCR, which we bought from Janík Motorsport.

How big is your team anyway? Will you also get some support from Hyundai Motorsport?
Our team is small for now and regarding Hyundai support, I can currently rely only on my brother and colleagues in the team.

Are you planning to take part in all the races of the season?
Firstly we will start in selected races due to our later decision to participate in TCR Eastern Europe. We will miss Oschersleben for sure, but we would like to start at Hungaroring and rest of the season.

With what ambitions will you enter the races? Do you want to get a feel for it first or will you go for the result right from the start?
Everyone who race, wants to win of course. However, I am a realist and in the competition of drivers like Rzepecki, Fulín, Čížek, Steibel and others, I don’t think about winning. I definitely want to „warm up“ myself first.

Tell us something about your racing history.
As I mentioned, I mainly competed in hill climb races, but I also tried autoslalom or rally. Anyway, I fall in love with circuit racing, when I received the opportunity to compete in an endurance race at Slovakian Grand Prix in 2022.
