The TCR Eastern Europe championship heads to the Hungaroring this weekend for the final round of the 2026 season, where the season-long title battle between Martin Kadlečík and Adam Kout will finally be decided.
Five months have passed since the TCR Eastern Europe season kicked off at Grobnik in Croatia, and since then, it has been all about Kadlečík and Kout. The two drivers have dominated the championship, sharing every victory between them throughout the season.
Žarko Knego from Autoklub Dubrovnik, driving a Hyundai Elantra, Jiří Zbožínek from Hyundai Janík Motorsport in the same model, and Petr Čížek from 78 Racing in a Cupra have all joined the title contenders on the podium, but none has managed to challenge them for a race win.
Kadlečík, driving an Audi RS3, and Kout, behind the wheel of a Hyundai Elantra, have proved unbeatable so far, establishing themselves as the two clear championship favourites. Kadlečík took control of the standings with a double victory at the opening round in Grobnik and has held the championship lead ever since. However, Kout has kept the pressure on throughout the season and remains well within striking distance.
The situation heading into the Hungaroring finale is straightforward. Aditis Racing’s Kadlečík leads Hyundai Janík Motorsport’s Kout by just seven points, and with a maximum of 55 points still up for grabs, the championship battle remains wide open.
The famous Hungarian circuit returns to the TCR Eastern Europe calendar for the first time since 2023. While the Hungaroring underwent extensive renovations to its facilities, the championship moved to another Hungarian venue, Balaton Park. With the redevelopment now complete, TCR Eastern Europe is set to return to the historic circuit, which first opened in 1986.
During the championship’s previous visit in 2023, Maťo Homola set the fastest qualifying time with a lap of 1:53.239, while Milan Vukovich recorded the fastest race lap of 1:53.993 behind the wheel of a Renault Mégane TCR.
The TCR Eastern Europe qualifying session gets underway on Friday at 13:42, followed by Race 1 on Saturday at 12:27. The final race of the 2026 season is scheduled for Sunday at 14:30.
