Pekař returned to top spot on Sunday

Tomáš Pekař took victory in Race 2 at Slovakiaring. Sebastian Steibel finished second and Race 1 winner Michal Makeš achieved third place.

Saturday wasn´t a perfect day for Tomáš Pekař. The championship leader had issues with understeering and had to settle for 5th place at finish. But on Sunday, he had more reasons to be happy. He achieved his third victory in 2021 TCR Eastern Europe season and increased his championship lead.

Pekař started from 5th place after TOP 9 from Race 1 was reversed on the grid. But the Carpek Service driver moved to 2nd position in the opening meters and took the lead already during Lap 1 after Lukasz Stolarczyk made a mistake. In the remainder of the race, Pekař stayed in the lead.

The ESET Race Star supported driver Sebastian Steibel crossed the finish line four seconds behind Pekař and took second place. It means the German driver achieved podium result in both races of the weekend. Yesterday, he was second too. Race 1 winner Michal Makeš progressed from 9th place to third during Race 2 and he took the podium result too.

It was a good weekend for Sebastian Steibel at Slovakiaring.

The third best driver from Race 1 Carol Wittke was 4th in Sunday´s race. The local driver Miro Horňák, who raced for Horňák-Aditis with support of ESET Race Star project, scored 10 points for 5th place. He drove shortly even on third place in Lap 1.

The 2019 champion and last year´s vice champion Milovan Vesnić finished 6th after he started from 12th because of bad luck in Race 1. Žarko Knego, who started from pole position today, dropped to 7th place. Dávid Němček, who complemented Knego in first row and started 2nd, had a bad start and finished 8th. Sanel Cehic took his first points in TCR Eastern Europe thanks to 9th position and Radim Adámek was 10th.

Lukasz Stolarczyk and Tomasz Rzepecki didn´t have a happy day today. Both had technical issues and had to make a pitstop during race. Stolarczyk, who held third place in the opening laps after he lost his lead in Lap 1, finished 12th in the end. Rzepecki was 13th. Petr Čížek retired from the race early.
