Adam Kout secured pole position for Hyundai Janík Motorsport after coming out on top in Saturday’s qualifying session for the second round of the TCR Eastern Europe Championship at the Salzburgring.
The Czech driver was comfortably the fastest man on track, setting a benchmark time of 1:24.938 on his final flying lap. Championship leader Martin Kadlečík, driving an Audi RS 3 for Aditis Racing, finished second, 0.332 seconds adrift of Kout’s pace.
The two title contenders will therefore share the front row of the grid for today’s race. Behind them, Žarko Knego from Auto Klub Dubrovnik secured third place in his Hyundai Elantra, edging out fellow Hyundai driver Jiří Zbožínek by 0.251 seconds.
Fifth place in the qualifying session went to Radim Adámek of Aditis Racing, making it two Audi RS 3 cars inside the top five.
The opening race of the weekend is set to take place in 16:35, with Kout aiming to convert his pole position into a crucial first victory of the season.
