The fourth round of the TCR Eastern Europe season began with the qualifying session, and out of the 19 cars in the field, René Kircher with Honda was the fastest. He will be joined on the first row by local driver Maťo Homola from the Hyundai Janík Motorsport team.
The Slovakia Ring, which is both fast and technical circuit, suited Kircher very well, and he managed to set a time of 2:11.458, securing the first position on the grid for today’s first race. Maťo Homola was 0.260 seconds slower as he had run over a piece of bodywork lying on the track during the latter stages of qualifying.
Carlo Czepiel, just 0.074 seconds behind his teammate Homola, took the third position. Giacomo Ghermandi recorded his best qualifying result of the season and will start from fourth place with his Audi. Davit Kajaia, the winner from Red Bull Ring, set the fifth time, and another best result of the season came from Petr Fulín Jr., who will put his Cupra in the sixth place on the grid.
Adam Kout with Hyundai and Philipp Dietrich with Cupra will start from the fourth row, with Sebastian Steibel and Ivars Vallers behind them. This is also the best qualifying result so far this season for Vallers.
Race 1 is scheduled to start today at 14:30.
