TCR Eastern Europe Championship visited Austria’s iconic Salzburgring circuit on 30–31 May, where an expanded three-race format produced victories for title contenders Adam Kout and Martin Kadlečík.
Salzburgring made its third appearance on the TCR Eastern Europe calendar, but for the first time the event featured three races instead of the traditional two. After Martin Kadlečík and Aditis Racing swept both races at the season opener in Grobnik, it was Adam Kout and Hyundai Janík Motorsport who took centre stage in Austria.
The Czech driver immediately underlined his pace by securing pole position in qualifying, beating Kadlečík’s Audi RS3 by 0.332 seconds. Kout then converted that speed into victory with a controlled drive in the opening race. Although Kadlečík remained glued to his rear bumper throughout, Kout managed the pace perfectly and never offered his rival a realistic opportunity to attack. Completing the podium was Hyundai Janík Motorsport team-mate Jiří Zbožínek.
Race 2 followed a remarkably similar script. Kout and Kadlečík quickly broke clear of the rest of the field, running nose-to-tail while steadily extending their advantage. It looked set to be another finish in the same order until Kadlečík was forced to pit with a puncture. Although he rejoined after a tyre change, fifth place was the best he could recover. Ahead of him finished runner-up Žarko Knego, Jiří Zbožínek and fellow Aditis Racing driver Radim Adámek, as Hyundai Elantra drivers locked out the entire podium.
The grid for the third and final race featured Knego and Adámek on the front row, but Kadlečík wasted no time charging through the field. Before the pack even reached the opening chicane, he had already seized the lead and never relinquished it.
Kout also carved his way forward and closed in on Kadlečík as he chased a Salzburgring hat-trick. However, before he could launch a decisive attack in the closing five minutes, the race was red-flagged following a heavy accident involving Zbožínek. The Czech driver struck the tyre barriers at high speed in a dramatic incident, but fortunately escaped without serious injury. With the race stopped, Kadlečík was declared the winner ahead of Kout, while Knego completed the podium.
The third round of the 2025 TCR Eastern Europe season is scheduled for 1–2 August at the Autodrom Most.
