Sandro Soubek joins the TCR Eastern Europe series grid for the upcoming round at Slovakia Ring. The Austrian driver will drive Audi RS3 LMS TCR of MAIR Racing Osttirol. And he does not rule out starts in other events as well.
Sandro, we have heard that you are going to race in the TCR Eastern Europe. Is it true?
Yes, I’ll be racing at Slovakia Ring. After that, we’ll decide whether we’re going to compete at Brno and Hungaroring as well, but I think we will.
With what car and which team?
We’ve bought Audi RS3 LMS TCR. And we’ll be working together with the same team that I race for in the Renault Clio Cup Central Europe series, so MAIR Racing Osttirol.
Have you had a chance to test this car yet? If so, how would you compare it to Renault Clio?
I haven’t driven the TCR car yet, but I’ll be testing it this Friday for the first time and then the next Thursday. So, I won’t be able to say which car is better (whether Audi RS3 LMS TCR or Renault Clio) until the end of this week.
You are going to race against many drivers that you have already met in Renault Clio Cup series in the past. Drivers like Petr Čížek, Rene Martinek or Szymon Ladniak. Are you looking forward to them?
I’m glad that I’ll be able to see the drivers that I’ve had a chance to meet in other championships before. I look forward to some great racing.
What are your ambitions?
I don’t have big goals for the first races. There will be a lot of work for us, to find a good car setup. You need to take care of this car much more than with the Clio. Also, mechanics need a lot of knowledge. We need some time to learn and that’s the goal for this season.
