TCR Eastern Europe championship duel heats up at Brno

TCR Eastern Europe heads to Automotodrom Brno for its penultimate round of the season. The first weekend of September could already crown Adam Kout as champion, or will Martin Kadlečík close the gap and take the fight to the final round?

Czech drivers Adam Kout from Hyundai Janík Motorsport and Martin Kadlečík from Aditis Racing have emerged as the main title contenders in the 2025 season. Kout is behind the wheel of a Hyundai Elantra, while Kadlečík drives an Audi RS3. However, the Hyundai will be 10 kilograms heavier than the Audi, as Kout carries success ballast from his two wins at the Slovakia Ring. That gives Kadlečík a golden opportunity. He needs to raise his game in Brno, as he currently trails Kout by 20 points. To keep his title hopes alive, he must finish ahead of Kout.

Kout, on the other hand, can afford to be a little more relaxed thanks to his advantage. If he leaves Brno with a lead of 55 points or more over Kadlečík, he will secure the title before the final round.

Both Kout and Kadlečík may also benefit from support within their teams. Bartosz Groszek from Aditis Racing sits third in the standings, while Jiří Zbožínek of Hyundai Janík Motorsport is fourth. But unlike Groszek, Zbožínek’s position is far from safe, just nine points behind him is Žarko Knego of Auto Klub Dubrovnik, a further point back is Ivars Vallers of LV Racing and only five points behind Vallers is Petr Čížek of Expres Auto Racing. That makes the battle from fourth to seventh in the championship extremely tight.

Čížek’s teammate Vít Smejkal will also return to the grid and their team will again run a Cupra for Radoslav Obrtal and Peter Szilágy. The two will share driving duties over the weekend, with one racing in Race 1 and the other in Race 2.

Qualifying for Race 1 took place on Friday at 16:10. Saturday’s race will start at 13:05, and Sunday’s Race 2 begins at 11:05.
