Hungarian outfit Team Unicorse brought its Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR to the Hungaroring, where Dominik Lehner took the wheel during the test session ahead of the final round of the 2026 TCR Eastern Europe season in October. We spoke to team manager Gabor Szuhan about the team’s future plans and prospects.

Team Unicorse is a familiar name in TCR Eastern Europe, having previously competed in the championship in 2019.

“TCR Eastern Europe is familiar territory for our team, and we have always valued the racing here,” says Gabor Szuhan. “Testing before this year´s finale was a good opportunity to get our Alfa Romeo back on track and assess where we stand. We want to take things step by step and build a solid foundation for the future.”

The Alfa Romeo Giulietta belongs to an older generation of TCR machinery and had been out of action for some time. As a result, the team had to carry out preparations to get the car back on track in competitive condition.

“Preparation was particularly important. We recently visited Romeo Ferraris, where we worked with their technical team to inspect the car and fine-tune its setup. Our main priority is to start with a reliable technical package, then build on the experience we gain on track,” continues Szuhan.

Young driver Dominik Lehner was behind the wheel of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta at the Hungaroring. The 18-year-old has been involved with the team for some time, racing an Alfa Romeo 155 in the German Golden Era series and in Austria. Keen to take on a new challenge, Lehner was given the opportunity to try the Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR.

“We are happy to be working with Dominik. Our focus is currently on giving him the opportunity to get to know the car and develop an effective working relationship with the team. We want to approach this without unnecessary pressure and use our time on track to learn together,” explained Szuhan.

Although neither Lehner nor Team Unicorse competed in the TCR Eastern Europe season finale at the Hungaroring, the test sessions provided valuable track time as the team looks to build towards a future racing programme.

“We are working towards returning to TCR Eastern Europe in 2027, with the aim of completing a full season. However, several things still need to fall into place before we can confirm the programme,” added Szuhan.
