The Cupra Leon has been named the 2025 TCR Model of the Year. This honorary accolade, awarded by the WSC organisation, is based on a classification that takes into account the results achieved by all TCR-certified cars in all TCR-sanctioned races held during the season.
In 2025, a total of 314 races awarded points for the Model of the Year classification. The Cupra Leon, in its Competición and VZ versions, scored 6150.75 points and achieved 78 race wins from 659 starts across 19 TCR-sanctioned series.
“Many congratulations to Cupra Racing and their customer teams,” said WSC President Marcello Lotti. “Seat was the first manufacturer to embrace the TCR concept back in 2015, and the first-generation Leon was named TCR Model of the Year in the inaugural year of this award. It is therefore quite appropriate that Cupra picks up the baton ten years later.”
A total of 173 points were added to the overall score by drivers competing in TCR Eastern Europe. Petr Čížek from Expres Auto Racing contested the full season with the Cupra VZ TCR and scored 105 points, including two podium finishes. His team mates Vít Smejkal and Petr Semerad, driving the Cupra Competition TCR, ran part-time programmes in 2025 and contributed 36 and 14 points respectively. Radoslav Obrtal and Peter Szilágyi also competed in two rounds with the Cupra Competition TCR, adding a further 18 points.
The most outstanding achievements by Cupra drivers worldwide included championship titles in TCR Europe with Jenson Brickley for Monlau Motorsport, TCR México with Juan Pablo Sierra for Centur Silen Racing, and TCR UK with Adam Shepherd for Capture Motorsport.
