Title battle tightens as TCR Eastern Europe heads to Slovakia Ring

TCR Eastern Europe heads to Slovakia Ring this weekend for the fourth round of the 2025 season, with the title fight heating up between Czech drivers Adam Kout and Martin Kadlečík.

So far this season, there have been three different race winners. Italian driver Giacomo Ghermandi claimed one victory, but after a crash in the previous round at Most, he will unfortunately miss Slovakia Ring due to injury. The remaining races have been won by Adam Kout of Hyundai Janík Motorsport and Martin Kadlečík of Aditis Racing.

This winning streak has put the Czech drivers at the top of the standings. Kout has three wins in his Hyundai Elantra, while Kadlečík drove his Audi RS3 to victories at Salzburgring and Most. Kadlečík is now just two points behind overall leader Kout in the championship.

The title battle is much closer than expected at the start of the season. In the teams’ standings, however, Aditis Racing has the upper hand thanks to strong results from Kadlečík’s teammate Bartosz Groszek. The former TCR Eastern Europe champion has already collected four podiums this year. He currently trails Kout by 37 points, which may seem like a lot, but with half the season still ahead and six races remaining, Groszek remains very much in contention.

Kout’s teammate Jiří Zbožínek is also showing strong form. He currently sits fifth in the standings and scored his first podium of the year at Most. With LV Racing’s Ivars Vallers only six points ahead in fourth, Zbožínek and Vallers has plenty to fight for.

Czech squad Expres Auto Racing is also looking to continue on a high note with Petr Čížek and Vít Smejkal. Čížek, unsurprisingly, secured a podium at his home circuit in Most and will aim to confirm his pace with another strong result. Smejkal, back in racing after a long break, impressed with a top-five finish in the previous round. One of the team’s former Cupra Competition cars will be shared by Radoslav Obrtal and Peter Szilagyi, with Obrtal contesting Race 1 and Szilagyi taking the wheel in Race 2.

Croatian driver Žarko Knego was on course for a podium at Most before being taken out in a collision, and he is determined to prove he belongs in the top three. He will also be racing for points in the TCR Croatia championship, which for the first time will run as part of TCR Eastern Europe. That means the grid will also feature Serbian Nemanja Milovanović and Croatina drivers Bojan Miljković and Luka Fabijančić.

The qualifying for Slovakia Ring starts on Friday, with Race 1 scheduled to Saturday 13:20, second race to 12:15 on Sunday.
