Vesnić won after almost two years

The first ever TCR Eastern Europe champion Milovan Vesnić took victory in Race 1 at Automotodrom Grobnik. Bartosz Groszek finished second and Carol Wittke took third place. Michal Makeš finished fourth ahead of the fifth Tomáš Pekař.

It was a perfect Saturday for Milovan Vesnić. After he took pole position in qualifying, he took victory also in Race 1. The Serbian spent the whole race in the lead. It´s the first victory in TCR Eastern Europe after almost two years for him. He achieved his last triumph before today in 2019 at Slovakiaring with Cupra Leon TCR car.

After the start from third place, Bartosz Groszek moved to second place and achieved another podium in TCR Eastern Europe. The ESET Race Star supported driver crossed the line only 778 thousandths behind Vesnić. Carol Wittke finished on third place with the loss of nearly two seconds to Vesnić.

Michal Makeš was better from two main protagonists of the championship fight. The Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra driver started from fifth place. But he overtook his main rival Tomáš Pekař and took fourth place. Tomáš Pekař had to settle for fifth position.

Another ESET Race Star supported driver Sebastian Steibel finished sixth. Petr Čížek took seventh place. The local driver Žarko Knego also score points. The Croatian was eighth. The ninth Tomasz Rzepecki and tenth Radim Adámek completed top ten.

Safety car was deployed once during the race. Lukasz Stolarczyk went off the track and when he was returning back, he collided with Sanel Cehic. Cehic remained standing on the track with damaged car. Except for Stolarczyk and Cehic, Giacomo Ghermandi also didn´t finish.

Race 2 will take place on Sunday at 11.50 and the first seven drivers from Race 1 will start in reversed order. It means Petr Čížek will begin from pole position ahead of second Sebastian Steibel and Tomáš Pekař.
